The publication of papers submitted to Libyan Journal of Medicine after July 1st 2016 incurs an article processing fee (APC). However, the journal maintains a fund to waive the fee for authors in developing parts of the world whose university or institute is unable to pay, or who have not received sufficient financial support from funding agencies.
We offer a complete or partial fee waiver on a case-by-case basis for individual authors or author groups from countries in the developing world, but only if the request for a waiver has been sent to email@example.com before submission of the manuscript.
The corresponding author must send the following information in the letter of request, together with any supporting documents:
– Manuscript title
– Article category
– Names and titles of all authors
– Institutional affiliations of all authors
– Type of waiver requested: Partial (indicate the amount you can pay in EUR) or Full
– Reason for waiver application
– Please explain how the research has been funded
Applications that do not contain this information will not be evaluated.
Many universities and funding agencies cover the publication costs if the research has been supported by them. For a list of universities/institutes and funders supporting Open Access publication, please see here. Additional information on how to claim reimbursement/support for publication fees can be found here.
The total sum will be charged to the author(s) upon acceptance of his/her article. It is the publication year that governs the publication fee, not the submission year.
Editors and reviewers have no access to author payment information. Inability to pay will not influence their editorial decision.
Should the author team not be judged to qualify for a waiver, the following prices are valid should the paper be accepted for publication after due peer review:
Original article: EUR 900 excl. VAT (Europe)/USD 1035 (rest of the world) for up to 8 typeset pages (US A4). Additional pages incur a charge of EUR 65/USD 75 per page.
Short Communication/Letter to the Editors: EUR 600 excl. VAT (Europe)/USD 690 (rest of the world) for up to 4 typeset pages (US A4). The charge per page over 4 is EUR 65/USD 75.
WITHDRAWAL OF MANUSCRIPT (waived or not):
If you withdraw your manuscript after it has been peer reviewed, or after it has been typeset (but not yet published) you will be charged according to the following:
For peer review: EUR 225/USD 240 per article
For peer review and typesetting: EUR 395/USD 425 per article
