Publication Fees

As of January 1st, 2016, and until further notice, publishing your work in Pathobiology of Ageing and Age-related Diseases is free of charge.

However, if your university or institute officially maintains a central fund to cover costs for Open Access Publishing, or the article describes results from research funded by an Open Access-positive funder, a publication fee will be charged as follows:

  • Regular article: €1375 excl VAT (Europe)/$1575 (rest of the world) for up to 7 typeset pages (US A4), and €65/$75 per page over 7
  • Short communications: €850/$950 for up to 4 typeset pages (US A4), and €65/$75 per page over 4. Animal Model Brief papers do not incur a charge.
  • PhD Review: €650 excl VAT (Europe)/$750 (rest of the world) for up to 8 typeset pages (US A4), and €65/$75 per page over 8.

The total sum will be charged to the author(s) upon acceptance of his/her article. It is the publication year that governs the publication fee, not the submission year.

WITHDRAWAL OF MANUSCRIPT If you withdraw your manuscript after it has been peer reviewed, or after it has been typeset (but not yet published) you will be charged according to the following:

For peer review: EUR 475/USD 565 per article
For peer review and typesetting: EUR 650/USD 755 per article
